A novel is a text-only version of a story. Unlike comics, which feature illustrations and dialogue bubbles, novels invite you to imagine every scene as you read and immerse yourself in the rich details of the story.
Novels are read in our novel viewer, where you can personalize your experience with adjustable text settings and reading modes. To learn more, check out our article How to optimize the volume viewer.
Where to find novels
All novels can be found under the Novel tab in the Manta Home.
Novels can be enjoyed by chapter, or by volume, giving you more control over your reading experience!
- Chapters Chapters are short, serialized parts of a novel that update more frequently than full volumes. They are perfect for quick reading sessions!
- Volumes Volumes are longer collections of chapters released as one unit. Volumes are great for binge reading and offer a fuller story with each release.
Whether you prefer to read a full volume or just a chapter at a time, it’s all up to you.
How to read novels
- Novel volumes and chapters can both be unlocked with Gems.
- Before deciding to unlock volumes or chapters, you can get a taste of the story with a preview or free chapter:
- When reading by volume, you can check the free preview before unlocking a volume.
- When reading by chapter, you can read the free chapters offered at the beginning of the story to help you decide if you would like to continue reading. In some cases, it may be possible to temporarily unlock chapters with a Free Pass.
- Once unlocked, you can access your novel volumes and chapters freely. They will remain in your library as long as your account remains active.
- After unlocking a volume or chapter, it will be added to My Series, under the Unlocked tab.
- When you want to start reading, you will be prompted to “download” the volume or chapter. After it is downloaded, you will be able to read even when offline.
