Manta User Content Guidelines

Part I. About these Guidelines

1. Purpose

Manta is a place where readers can enjoy stories, share reactions, and connect with other fans in a safe and respectful environment
These User Content Guidelines are designed to protect readers, creators, and the community by keeping conversations constructive, welcoming, and relevant to the stories we love.

2. Where These Guidelines Apply

These Guidelines apply to User Content submitted through Manta's comment features. For the purposes of these Guidelines, User Content includes comments, replies, text, emojis, images, URLs and link-like text, and any other content submitted through comment features.
These Guidelines apply wherever User Content is submitted through comment features, including but not limited to:

  • Episode comments
  • Replies to other users

These Guidelines supplement Manta's Terms of Service. Manta may review and take action on User Content that violates these Guidelines, our Terms of Service, or applicable laws.

Part II. Community Guidelines

3. Be Respectful to Others

Comments should contribute to a positive and welcoming community.
Do not post content that attacks, insults, threatens, humiliates, or harasses another person or group. This includes:

  • Personal attacks, name-calling, or bullying
  • Threats of violence or intimidation
  • Targeted harassment toward readers, creators, translators, staff, or other users
  • Encouraging others to attack, report, or harass someone
  • Mocking, shaming, or degrading people based on personal traits or opinions

Disagreement is allowed. Abuse is not.

4. No Hate Speech or Discrimination

Manta does not allow hateful or discriminatory content.

Do not post content that attacks, dehumanizes, excludes, or promotes hatred against people or groups based on attributes such as:

  • Race, ethnicity, nationality, or immigration status
  • Religion or belief
  • Gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation
  • Disability, illness, or mental health status
  • Age, body type, or appearance
  • Social class, occupation, or other protected or personal characteristics

This also includes slurs, hateful symbols, stereotypes, or content intended to provoke conflict between groups.

5. Protect Privacy

Do not share another person’s private information without permission.

This includes:

  • Real names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, social media accounts, or workplace/school information
  • Private photos, messages, screenshots, or recordings
  • Information that can identify or locate someone
  • Encouraging others to find, expose, contact, or harass someone

Doxxing or threatening to reveal private information may result in immediate action.

6. Keep Comments Relevant and Constructive

Comments should be related to the episode, series, characters, story, or reading experience.
Do not post content that disrupts the community experience, such as:

  • Repeated, meaningless, or off-topic comments
  • Excessive spam, copy-pasted comments, or flooding
  • Comments made only to provoke fights or derail discussion
  • Unrelated political, social, or controversial arguments
  • Spoilers posted without warning that ruin the reading experience for others

We welcome passionate reactions, theories, and critiques when they are shared respectfully.

7. No Sexual, Explicit, or Inappropriate Content

Do not post sexually explicit, obscene, or inappropriate content in comments. This includes:

  • Graphic sexual descriptions or explicit sexual roleplay
  • Sexual comments directed at real people, creators, staff, or other users
  • Sexualization of minors or characters who appear to be minors
  • Sexual content or attempts to share adult content
  • Obscene images or emojis in comments

Some Manta stories may include mature themes, but comments must still remain appropriate for the community space.

8. No Graphic Violence, Self-Harm Promotion, or Dangerous Content

Do not post content that encourages, glorifies, or provides instructions for:

  • Suicide, self-harm, or eating disorders
  • Violence, abuse, or threats against others
  • Criminal activity or illegal behavior
  • Dangerous challenges, weapons misuse, or harmful acts

Supportive discussion about difficult topics, recovery, or fictional story themes may be allowed when shared with care and without graphic details, encouragement, or instructions.

9. Respect Intellectual Property

Do not share, request, upload, describe how to access, or direct others to unauthorized copies of Manta content or other copyrighted works.
This includes:

  • Pirated episodes, screenshots, scans, downloads, or mirror links
  • Requests for illegal reading sites or unauthorized translations
  • Uploading or linking to content you do not have permission to share
  • Using comments to promote piracy or copyright infringement

Supporting creators means respecting their work.

10. No Spam, Scams, Links, or Unwanted Promotion

Do not use comments for spam, scams, unwanted promotion, or other misleading activity.

To help keep the community safe, links are not allowed in comments. This includes external websites, shortened URLs, invite links, referral links, and social media links.

Other prohibited content includes:

  • Repeated promotional or unsolicited messages
  • Commercial advertising or affiliate promotions
  • Phishing attempts, scams, malware, or fake login pages
  • Content that directs users to free gems, unauthorized episodes, pirated content, raw scans, mirror sites, or unofficial translations
  • Attempts to manipulate likes, comments, rankings, ratings, votes, or engagement
  • Bots, automated posting, fake accounts, or coordinated inauthentic activity

Manta may block, hide, or remove promotional, suspicious, or link-based content even if it does not appear harmful at first glance.

Part III. Moderation & Enforcement

11. How we moderate

Manta reviews potential violations through user reports, automated systems, and internal moderation.

Some comments may be blocked before publication if they match prohibited content or formatting.

When reviewing reported content, we may consider the context of the comment, surrounding discussion, and other available information. Not every reported comment will violate these Guidelines.

12. User Controls

Manta provides tools to help you manage your own experience, including:

  • Reporting comments that may violate these Guidelines
  • Blocking or muting other users
  • Hiding comments from users you've blocked
  • Managing notifications related to comment activity

Using these tools does not replace Manta's moderation, but they can help you manage your own experience.

13. Enforcement Actions

If we determine that User Content or account activity violates these Guidelines or our Terms of Service, we may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Hiding or limiting visibility of the comment
  • Removing the comment
  • Sending a warning
  • Temporarily limiting commenting or account features
  • Suspending or permanently banning an account
  • Taking immediate action for severe violations

Repeated violations may lead to stronger restrictions. Serious violations may result in immediate action without prior warning.

False, abusive, or malicious reports may also lead to action against the reporting account.

14. Appeals

If you believe your comment or account was restricted in error, you may contact Manta Support for review.

Submitting an appeal does not guarantee that a moderation decision will be reversed. We will review the available information and any additional context, where appropriate.

15. Updates to These Guidelines

These guidelines may be updated from time to time as Manta’s community grows.
